1920's VILLA RENEW

The cottage charm of a 1920s’ bungalow/villa has been catapulted into a gilt-edged haven.

A thorough renovation demonstrates how the brilliance of yesterday’s character can be retained with empathy, while introducing light, storage and modern flow into a home.

Owners strongly desired living focuses on natural light, close connection and entertainment value.

They wanted a home that will stand the test of time – both in functionality and timeless appeal.

The home received a head-to-toe makeover – internal walls and original chimneys were removed, added bifold doors opened living areas out onto external decking, skylights instated in the kitchen and bathroom areas allow light to flood in, though the three-metre stud was retained throughout to remain faithful to the homes 100 year age.

The importance of paying homage and remaining true to this homes original character, while introducing contemporary finesse is displayed clearly in the kitchen and bathrooms areas – modern finishes, contemporary light features with a tinge of colonial styling in cabinetry, butler’s sink and heritage hardware.

Layers of subtle colour and different finishes instill tone and texture everywhere. While dramatic accents add personality. The overall look accentuates the ability to look back to the heritage of this home, while moving ahead to tomorrow.
